Install Oracle 8i/9i on Win2k with SP4

When I tried to install Oracle 8i on Win2k with SP4, the setup program just did not startup.

There seems to be a known issue:

Cpuid detection for Intel. Pentium. 4 processor system:
Intel has identified that applications which use the Symantec Just In Time compiler library file ("symcjit. DLL "for Microsoft Windows * Operating System and" symc_jlt.nlm "for Novell Netware * 5.1) may not run properly on Pentium. 4 processor systems because the library does not properly identify the processor. the failure typically is that the affected application such as Oracle 8i, simply terminate S. Under Microsoft Windows *, the properties of the DLL are: "Symantec Java! Justintime compiler version 3.10.107 for JDK 1.2 copyright (c) 1996-99 Symantec Corporation Dynamic Link Library File ". Therefore, to install Oracle 8i on Win2k SP4:

1. Copy the installation disk to hard disk.

2. Change the following files 'name:

\ Stage \ Components \ oracle. SWD. JRE \ 1.1.7.30 \ 1 \ datafiles \ expanded \ JRE \ Win32 \ bin \ symcjit. dll-> symcjit. Old

3. Install Oracle 8i.

after installation, if java.exe application error occurs, configure the following file:
\ Installation Folder \ ora81 \ apache \ jserv \ conf \ jserv. conf
change "apjservmanual off" to "apjservmanual on"
