On CentOS 6.2, MYSQL is installed using YUM because XAMPP does not support 64-bit, so I still install MYSQL myself. Use the default yum. [OK] Starting mysqld: [OK] You can see that this command initializes MYSQL and installs the MYSQL System data table. If this process does not exist, it will fail to be forcibly started using the mysqld_safe start command.
