Have the VNC service installed and view the installed VNC version:
>rpm–q Vnc-server
If not installed, you can download the vnc-server-4.1.2-14.el5_6.6.x86_64.rpm and install:
(1) In the case of non-networking:
>rpm–ivh./vnc-server-4.1.2-14.el5_6.6.x86_64.rpm
(2) in the case of networking:
>yum Install Tigervnc Tigervnc-server
To start the VNC service:
>vncserver or Vncserver:1
If the firewall is enabled, you can turn off the firewall:
> Service iptables Stop (on-time, restart disabled) or chkconfigiptables off (restart effective)
or open the appropriate port:
>iptables–i input–p Tcp–dport 5901–jaccept
Configure the VNC graphical desktop environment interface (the VNC login may not display the desktop because it is not configured):
>vi/root/.vnc/xstartup (if you want to install Oracle, log in with an Oracle user and modify/home/oracle/.vnc/xstartup, Re-login with Vncserver, start-up can be)
Change "TWM &" in the last line to "Gnome-session &" (You can sign in to the GNOME desktop environment)
or change to "Startkde &" (Can login to KDE desktop environment)
Choose a GNOME or KDE desktop environment based on your system-installed desktop environment
To restart VNC:
>vncserver–kill:1
>vncserver or Vncserver:1
Re-login with the VNC client.
To modify the VNC password:
>vncpasswd
Set up the VNC service to load automatically with system boot:
>chkconfig Vncserver on
>chkconfig–list Vncserver
