This is not the first time intel has heard that it is about to abandon Pentium. Register quoted a report from PC watch in Japan saying that Intel will abandon the Pentium brand, in the future, Merom and Conroe kernel processors will no longer use the Pentium brand. Interestingly, it is replaced by "Intel Core" to show that the above processors will adopt a netburst architecture different from the Pentium processor.
For the majority of users, Intel Core may not be a familiar name, and Pentium's Chinese Translation of Pentium seems to be more imposing, but in the future, Intel, which emphasizes platform strategy, seems to be interested in downplaying the brand of a separate processor, we may be more familiar with platforms like Centrino in the future.
At present, Intel has not commented on this, but logically, this result may be reasonable. First, for processors, there are single and dual kernels, there are HT/No HT, there are 64bit and 32 bit, so in fact, the architecture is more suitable for brand differences, or use different platforms as brands, such as Centrino or future viiv. However, I personally think that Intel Core is a brand that is too simple.
