Are you using a mobile device running Microsoft Pocket PC 2002? This mobile device can use the Microsoft Server ActiveSync client to synchronize updates with your inbox, contacts, and calendar items in Exchange 2000. If you use such a mobile device, you may receive the following error message: "synchronization failed. Information cannot be synchronized because no network connection is found. Check your device connection settings and try again. Error code: INTERNET_29 ."
INTERNET_29 errors may occur in the following situations:
- Not connected to the server.
- The certificate cannot be installed on the server.
- The device configuration on the dynamic synchronization server is incorrect.
To solve this problem, use the following solutions:
1. If you use the pass-through function of a desktop computer for synchronization, make sure that the device is in the cradle.
2. If your handheld computer uses a 802.11 wireless connection card, make sure that the connection settings are correct.
3. Check that the handheld computer uses a valid IP address.
4. Browse a website to confirm that you are connected to the Internet.
5. Use any free application that can be used to verify your IP address.
6. Run the "Ping" command to check the basic network connection status.
7. Because the dynamic synchronization server needs to use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), make sure that a valid certificate is installed on the server.
The following method can be used to check whether the certificate is disabled:
- A. Start the "Internet Services Manager" program on the MIS server.
- B. Right-click the "Default Web Site (Default website)" node, click "Properties", and then click the "Directory Security" tab.
- C. If the buttons in the "Secure Communications (Secure Communication)" section are unavailable (gray-white), the certificate is not installed.
8. Enter start, dynamic synchronization, tools, options, and servers on the handheld devices ". Then, check whether the server name you entered is correct. (Note: use the name of the Server running Mobile Information Server, instead of the name of the Server running Exchange 2000 Server .)
9. Repeat Step 8 without entering the name of the MIS host. Instead, enter the IP address of the server. In this way, the host name resolution problem can be tested.
