Uikit is not just a simple user interface bread, it is also the iphone on the GUI application running the base library. When you start an application, its main function instantiates a UIApplication object from the UI kit. This class is the base class for all applications that have a user interface on the iphone, and allows applications to access the iphone's high-level functions. In addition, common application-level services, such as handing over control to other applications and returning to the active state, are also features of the UIApplication class.
