Introduction to FST files in virtual 3D Modeling

Vega provides a conversion tool to convert the FLT model file in the ASF file to the FST file format. Vega's Fast File Format (FST) provides an effective way for the system to load models in the scene as quickly as possible. The data of the FST file is similar to that required in the Vega scenario, so it can be loaded very quickly. Other file formats require a lot of processing work when added to the Vega scenario, which does not affect the system running time when processing a small amount of data or static call, however, when model data needs to be dynamically transferred in real time, especially the terrain data of a large scale, there is a great delay, affecting the browsing effect.
Generally, the FST file does not store texture files, because several FST files may use the same texture file, which makes the FST file smaller and faster to load. The front of this article also mentions that real-time calling of scenes also includes real-time calling of textures. If the total amount of modulus and textures exceeds the hardware texture memory capacity, or even exceeds the system memory capacity, during browsing, frequent swap of memory or hard disk textures makes it difficult to ensure real-time performance. Therefore, the texture file can be stored in the FST file, which can greatly improve the loading timeliness.

If the created FLT model file is converted to a binary file in FST format and the model texture is included, the system loading speed can be greatly accelerated and the running efficiency can be improved, especially for large model databases. This is one.
Second, because the FST model is irreversible, all of them have the purpose of protecting the intellectual property rights of their own models from another perspective. The FST format model cannot be opened in Creator.
Third, after texture is included, Fst becomes a separate file and is no longer subject to path troubles. It releases Simulation Applications. Program There is no need to attach the texture folder. That's convenient. It's like a stone hitting three birds, an arrow shooting three carvings, one step wearing three yang, one foot and three boats.
The conversion method is as follows:
1. Create a New ADF file;
2. Add the FLT model to be converted to the objects panel in sequence;
3. Save the ADF file and name it temp. ADF;
4. Open the DOS window and go to the directory where the ADF file is saved;
5. At the command line prompt, type the following command:
> Objconvert-a temp. ADF-s FST-I
-A indicates converting all model objects in the specified ADF File
-S FST indicates that the converted model format is FST.
-I indicates that the texture is included in the FST file.
6. Press enter to complete the operation!

If it is too troublesome, you can use the Creator plug-in made by a netizen named mulde to directly complete the conversion in the Creator. In fact, you still use the objcongvert, once you use it, you will know.
Installation Method:
1. The Creator and Vega software are installed normally. This plug-in has passed the test in Creator 2.6 or later versions;
2. Assume that creator is installed on drive C, decompress the package, and put fstexport. dll in the c: \ Program Files \ Multigen-paradigm \ config \ creator \ plugins directory;
After use:
1. Start the creator and open the FLT file to be converted;
2. Choose File> write FST file ....

Similar to Flt, the FST format file is imported by clicking the button in the objects panel, and then ......

Actually, Vega can be imported in many formats. Almost all mainstream 3D formats can be used, but the rendering efficiency is different. If you are interested, try again.

The FST format is the dedicated format of Vega on the NT platform. The similar format on the IRIX platform is pfb (actually the sort mer format). As far as I know, it seems that only Vega can import this FST format model.
Another special format is used in Vega Prime:
Vsbplug-ins, but this is not yet seen. vp.exe A tovsb.exe tool dedicated to converting FLT to VSB, which is much more convenient than converting FLT to FST. graphic interface, huh, huh
