Windows operating systems can be installed using the Installation Wizard and the compact package. These two methods are explained in detail below.

1.how theArduino IDE Windows installation Wizard Works

The Windows Installation Wizard installs like most Windows applications, just run the downloaded. exe file directly. For example, the 1.6.0 version of the Installation Wizard means that the file name is Arduino-1.6.0-windows.exe. Double-click the file directly to start the installation.

(1) The first entry is the Browse Protocol dialog box, 2.7 shows.

(2) After reading the agreement, click on the "I Agree" button to enter the Installation Options dialog box, 2.8 as shown.

(3) In this step, there are 4 items available for the user to select, as shown in 2.9. The meanings of each option are as follows:

• Install USB driver: Installation USB driver, this option is usually selected as good, otherwise the hardware may not run correctly;
• Create Start Menu Shortcut: Creates a shortcut in the Start menus, which can be selected according to your preference;
• Create Desktop shortcut: Creates shortcuts on the desktop, this option is usually selected as good, which makes it easier for you to open the Arduino IDE;
• Associate. ino files: associated. ino files, this option is usually selected as good. This allows you to open a file with the suffix. Ino directly using the Arduino IDE. The source files for the Arduino IDE are saved with a. ino suffix.

(4) After you have configured the appropriate options, you can click on the "Next >" button to enter the installation Folder selection dialog box, as shown in 2.10.

(5) To complete this step is to select the Arduino IDE to install the target folder, after selecting the appropriate installation directory, you can click the "Install" button to start the installation, 2.11 shows.

(6) After the progress bar is filled, the installation is complete. The "Close" button in the lower left corner becomes available, as shown in 2.12.

(7) Click the "Close" button to complete the installation of the Arduino IDE.

2.installation of theArduino IDE Compact Package

The installation in the form of a compressed package is very simple, just use the compression tool to open the compressed package with the suffix. zip and unzip the contents to the desired location.

(1) The file name of the 1.6.0 version of the compressed package is arduino-1.6.0-windows.zip. The decompression tool used by the author is 7-zip. Right-click on the compressed file, select the "7-zip" option in the menu that opens, and select "Open Compressed Package" command in the submenu below, 2.13.

(2) After you open the compact package of the Arduino IDE using the compression tool, you can see that there is only one version-named folder, as shown in 2.14.

(3) The current unzip tool generally supports drag-and-drop, so when you select your target file, drag the entire "Arduino-1.6.0" directly to it, which completes the installation of the Arduino IDE.
