According to the statistics of the July 2005 China VOIP market research report (hereinafter referred to as the "VOIP Report") released in 2005 by iResearch, it is estimated that the average monthly consumption budget for network phones will be 40 yuan in the future.
The number of Internet users in China reached 0.1 billion by the end of 4 million. In 0.1 billion, the number of Internet users is expected to exceed 30 million. The number of broadband access users will reach 42.5 million, the rapid growth of Internet users and broadband access users will lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of network phone users. According to the latest research data of iResearch, the proportion of users who select "using network phones" to the total survey sample size is 29%, and the proportion of users who select "depending on the situation" is 59%, if 2005 of broadband access users were used in 29%, there would be a base of more than 12 million users. From the data, we can see that the network telephone market has great potential, this is also the reason why traditional telecom operators are highly concerned and instant messaging service providers are eager for network calls.
Why are there so many users so enthusiastic about the consumption of an unopened telephone service? Let's compare the charging standards of network and traditional fixed telephones. According to the pricing standards of some major domestic service providers, China's long-distance calls via network phones only require 0.1 yuan to 0.15 yuan per minute, the number of calls to the United States, Canada, China's Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other regions is 0.3 yuan per minute. According to the current China Telecom fixed phone fee standard, it takes 0.07 yuan/6 seconds to call domestic long distances, it is more than 5 times the number of network calls. It takes 0.8 yuan/6 seconds to make an international call, nearly 30 times the number of network calls. If the popularity of the Internet and the maturity of WiMAX technology are an excellent opportunity for the expansion of the VoIP market, the low price is the lever that the network phone can leverage to meet huge user needs!
Next, let's take a look at the user's consumption budget for the network phone. According to the data in the VOIP report consulted by iResearch, users with a monthly consumption budget of less than 10 yuan account for 15% of VOIP users, 10-30 yuan accounted for 31.3%, 27.1% of 31-50 yuan, 13.2% of 51-80 yuan, and 12.8% of 80 yuan or more. Based on this calculation, the average monthly consumption budget of user network calls in the future is 40 yuan.
Currently, China's six major telecom operators and major instant messaging service providers are very concerned about network phones, especially PC-to-Phone services. Unlike PC-to-PC, the called party of the PC-to-Phone business is generally a PSTN user. Therefore, traditional telecom operators must be involved in the PC-to-Phone industry chain, as a broadband access provider, they have inherent advantages in this business. Yahoo!, a broadband access provider in Japan! BB has the most outstanding business performance, with more than 4 million users. However, instant messaging service providers have a huge user base, especially Tencent QQ, MSN Message, and TOM-skype. They have over 10 million active users worldwide or in China, with a unique user base.
At present, the low cost of network telephones has made traditional telecom operators feel great pressure. Although the national regulatory policy has not yet allowed the commercial use of network telephones, all major network operators, especially instant messaging service providers, have begun to use various means to seize user resources, as the most important resource for their future development of the network telephone business, once the national policy on the VOIP industry is loose, the main enterprises will accelerate cooperation with telecom operators to carry out the network telephone business, it is foreseeable that in the near future, the competition in the network telephone market will become increasingly fierce.
