Java treats. java files differently from. class files. The. java file can specify the path directly to it, and the. class file required by the Java command cannot have an extension or specify an additional path to it, and the. class file required by Java must be specified by Classpath.

Java-classpath or JAVA-CP Specifies the classpath, first look for the. class file, based on the path specified in the CLASSPATH option on the command line, and find it in the global CLASSPATH environment variable.
