JDK requirements for the Eclipse version and how to view the Eclipse version

1. How to view the Eclipse version number:
1) Locate the Eclipse installation directory.
2) go to the Readme folder and open readme_eclipse.html.
3) The second line that readme_eclipse.html renders is the number version number, such as:
<p>release 4.5.0<br/>

JDK Requirements for version 2.eclipse:

Installing Eclipse is relatively easy, but does involve a few steps and software from at least, different sources. Eclipse is a java-based application and, as such, requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) in order to run.

Eclipse 4.6 (Neon)

Eclipse 4.6 (Neon)is scheduled for release on June 22, 2016.

A Java 8 jre/jdk is required to run all Neon packages based on Eclipse 4.6. The reasoning behind requiring Java 8 is discussed here. Eclipse 4.5 (Mars)

Since 2006, the Eclipse Foundation has scheduled a simultaneous release (simultaneous release) every year.
The synchronous release is mainly conducted in June and will release the SR1 and SR2 versions in the following September and February.
