JQuery collects statistics on the size of uploaded files and jquery collects statistics on uploaded files.
For modern browsers (html5 supported), you can use $ (selector) [0]. files [0]. size to calculate the size of the uploaded file on the client. However, in earlier versions of IE browsers, such as IE7, IE8, or IE9, this approach is not supported, but can be implemented using ActiveXObject objects.
<Input type = "file" name = "f" id = "f" value = "Upload file"/>
<Input type = "button" value = "Get the size of the uploaded image" id = "g"/>
@section scripts
{
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$('#g').on("click", function() {
getFileSize("f");
});
});
function getFileSize(eleId) {
try {
var size = 0;
If ($. browser. msie) {// ie old browser
var fileMgr = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
var filePath = $('#' + eleId)[0].value;
var fileObj = fileMgr.getFile(filePath);
size = fileObj.size; //byte
size = size / 1024;//kb
//size = size / 1024;//mb
} Else {// other browsers
size = $('#' + eleId)[0].files[0].size;//byte
size = size / 1024;//kb
//size = size / 1024;//mb
}
Alert ('size of the uploaded file is '+ size + 'kb ');
} catch (e) {
Alert ("error:" + e );
}
}
</script>
}
In addition, to enable ActiveXObject in IE, follow these steps:
→ Tools
→ Internet Options
→ Security
→ Custom Level, enabling ActiveXObject
