With the gradual acceleration of IPv6 standardization, China has begun to deploy a tight solution. However, the current network is not a single interconnected network. With the continuous integration of communication and the Internet, network Complexity is also increasing. Therefore, while promoting IPv6 standardization, we must plan different solutions for different network categories.

Basic protocol

Since IETF has already set a considerable number of standards in terms of basic protocols, the principle of domestic standards work is based on the reference to international standards, formulate national or industrial standards based on the actual operation and development of domestic networks. Therefore, at present, the Standardization Organization in China has formulated the corresponding basic Chinese protocol standards according to the existing standards of IETF, including IPv6 basic protocols, routing protocols, address structure protocols, neighbor discovery protocols, security protocols, and mobility protocols.

Network Architecture and performance indicator allocation

This type of standards is one of the focuses of standardization in China. In terms of network architecture, IETF has done a lot of work, including the dual-stack evolution mechanism, dual-Stack Router technology, dual-stack HOST Technology, IPv6 Tunneling Technology, address translation NAT) IPv6DNS, IPv6 standard evolution routing, IPv6 host and router evolution mechanism; in performance indicator allocation, ITU-T is starting to research. At present, the IP network performance indicator distribution standards are mainly derived from the comparison with the ATM network performance indicator distribution standards, and there are corresponding standards at home and abroad. Therefore, the standardization work in China will begin with the network architecture of IPv6 commercial networks, and work out according to the actual needs of IPv6 commercial networks in China based on the corresponding international standards.

Network evaluation criteria and testing methods

IPv6 is the core of the Next Generation Network (NGN). It is not only the next generation Internet NGI), but also the main bearer network of the Next Generation telecommunication network. Therefore, IPv6 network evaluation and testing are extremely important. The evaluation and testing of IPv6 networks are different from those of IPv4 networks: IPv4 networks pay more attention to the viability of networks and the fairness of information transmission, IPv6 standards pay more attention to network manageability and maintainability, end-to-end service quality QoS provided by the network, and carry multi-service capabilities, at the same time, IPv6 also focuses on the Survival ability of the network and the fairness of information transmission. Therefore, IPv6 network evaluation and testing are more complex than IPv4 network evaluation and testing. There are currently not many research achievements in this area, and a large number of standardization tasks need to be completed.

Network device specification and network device testing Specification

IPv6 network devices can be divided into two categories: one is pure IPv6 network devices, including routers, hosts, authentication and billing devices, network security devices, and basic application system devices; the other type is related to the evolution of IPv4/IPv6 standards, including dual-stack routers, dual-stack hosts, IPv4/IPv6 DNS, and network address converter NAT) and dual-stack network security devices. Because IPv6 network devices differ greatly from IP network devices, you cannot simply refer to IPv4 network device specifications. Therefore, the domestic IP standards research group will invest a considerable amount of effort in this area, thus increasing China's access to basic intellectual property rights.

Mobile Communication Standards

IPv6 is unique in Mobile IP, especially in real-time service processing. IPv6 Mobile IP technology has the irreplaceable advantage of IPv4. In the third generation mobile communication, a full IP address solution has been proposed. The third-generation mobile communication network may be the first to fully apply IPv6, and relevant international standards are also rapidly formed. 3GPP has worked with IETF to develop IPv6-related mobile communication standards. China, as one of the main participants of 3GPP, should put forward China's own mobile communication standards related to IPv6.

IPv6 business and application standards

To commercialize IPv6 networks, business and application development is extremely important. In order to smoothly complete the evolution from IPv4 to IPv6 standards, we need to pay great attention to IPv4 mature services and applications in the IPv6 environment. At present, IPv6 international standards related to third-generation communication networks are mainly in the IP multimedia field. The proposal on IPv6 support for mobile terminals will soon become an international standard. The above three aspects are the focus of IPv6 business and application standardization, and China should also form its own standards in these areas.

International IPv6 standards are becoming increasingly mature. As a country with the rapid development of Internet and mobile communication technologies and markets, China has become an urgent task of integrating with international standards.
