Key issues of MSTR and Bo

1, all the MicroStrategy Web features: Formatting, filtering, measurement creation, report creation and drillthrough are based on a zero-load web environment. Does Bo provide the same environment below minus load? BO XI does not provide report creation, metric creation, report formatting, or a zero-load environment for report filtering. To enable this feature, webintelligence users must download Java applets or ActiveX controls. Bo provides simple HTML based formatting and report creation through the HTML report panel. However, features such as metric creation, drillthrough, advanced filtering, advanced formatting, advanced sorting, drag-and-drop methods must also depend on downloading applets and controls. Even the Applet, crystal report that you use to download cannot be modified on the web. A more serious download problem is that customers cannot be deployed outside the enterprise network. Internet-based downloads are not only slow, but are limited by browsers and Java virtual machines. In some environments where security requirements are high, such as financial institutions, government agencies, Internet downloads are strictly prohibited.
2, MicroStrategy only one unified Report Viewer. There are 10 bo, and each viewer functions differently: ActiveX Crystal viewer, dhtml Crystal viewer, advanced DHTML Crystal Viewer, java Viewer, java panel, html panel, html Query Panel, activex olapintelligence Viewer and DHTML Olapintelligence Viewerbo have 10 different viewers. Each viewer feature is different. End users will have to learn to use 10 different viewers. For example, if a user wants to access an OLAP source, such as SAP BW, you need to learn to use the Bo ActiveX olapintelligence Viewer, and if you need access to a relational database, you need to learn the Bo Java Panel. A unified interface is very important for the user. If the user is not aware of which viewer to use or how to perform a task, then the software will be discarded quickly. Also, Bo is too difficult to use in Web mode.
3. MicroStrategy can support 400 concurrent users on a 4CPU Windows NT server.       How many concurrent users Bo supports. Based on current scalability testing, Bo supports approximately 25 concurrent users per CPU on 64-bit UNIX machines. As a result, 1 4CPU servers support 100 users maximum. The reason for Bo's very low user extensibility is that there is no intermediary server to process the reporting process. Instead, it handles all report operations on the Web server directly based on the CORBA architecture. Regardless of the processing power of the 64-bit UNIX processor, Bo user scalability is about half the size of the MicroStrategy on the 32-bit Windows platform. Low user scalability leads to a significant increase in hardware costs.
4, the average number of MicroStrategy deployed users is 750. And Bo is only 406. Why Bo's seating is about half the size of MicroStrategy. These figures come from an investigation by an independent investigative agency, the OLAP report, of approximately 1000 customers. For a single customer, there may be specific organizational or environmental factors that limit the number of seats. But for so many customer surveys, the impact of these issues should be eliminated. The reason why Bo cannot deploy the same number of seats as MicroStrategy is due to technical factors. If Bo supports up to hundreds of users, business intelligence cannot be extended to the entire enterprise.
5. The median size of the MicroStrategy database is 250GB. And Bo is 15GB. Why Bo Customer analysis does not exceed 15GB. Although most of the data used for a report is summary data, the differences shown by the survey indicate that managers need to access detail data. The report and analysis tools must be able to support seamless access from summary data to detail data.
6, why more than 27% of Bo users will encounter serious performance problems. Even if the MicroStrategy customer's data is 10 times times that of Bo, the user is twice times as high as Bo, and only 16% of MicroStrategy customers experience performance problems. This number is even lower than that of Cognos.
7, MicroStrategy allows the report created in the desktop under the Web to modify, and vice versa, as long as the user has the appropriate permissions. WebIntelligence can users modify the reports created by Bo or crystal?       Bo users may have at least 4 problems when they try to create a report using another Bo tool: A. WebIntelligence users cannot modify, drill through, or export a report created by Bo because of a non-integrated schema. This requires a separate license. B. Different versions of the reports have incompatibility issues. For example, the new version of WebIntelligence is incompatible with the old version (v2.x) of the WEBINTELLIGENCEC. In addition, documents created with a Java report editor that have more than one statement page sign or block of information cannot be found in HTML reports Edito R in Edit. D. Crystal created reports that cannot be edited through the web.
The impact of the integration problem is that end users must request it assistance if they want to make minor changes to standard reports, making it a bottleneck in maintaining and modifying existing reports.
8. MicroStrategy transmits only the current view of the report through MicroStrategy Web or desktop, based on user requests. Also, MicroStrategy does not store data on the Web server. How Bo handles data transfer. Bo needs to download the entire micro-cube to the Bo client. This means a large dataset transfer from the database to the user's client. This seriously affects the network bandwidth, as well as the client's memory and other resources. In addition, because BO clients do not have caching, different cubes must be created for different users to transmit on the network. Also, for webintelligence users, a micro-cube may contain sensitive data that must be stored on a Web server.
9, MicroStrategy has a centralized security database. Through this repository, administrators control user rights, data security, and object security. This security can be applied automatically when a new datasheet is added to the Data warehouse. How Bo solves such data-level security. What is the difference between semantic layer metadata security and business view's metadata security? For each table contained in the Data Warehouse, Bo needs to manually define data access permissions for a user in the semantic layer. This means that you must insert a WHERE clause for each user at the table level. For the business views of the crystal product line, the administrator must reset their security. This results in significant cost increases as the user volume increases. Security is a basic IT service that should be centrally managed on an enterprise-level BI platform. Security vulnerabilities can be caused by the very high likelihood of safety errors being set up and synchronized between multiple locations. MicroStrategy provides enterprise-class security settings that can be centrally managed and reduce maintenance costs.
10, MicroStrategy Intelligence Server is a unified multi-threaded servers. And Bo Xi has 11 servers: the Management server, file Repository server, event server, report job Server, program job server, WebIntelligence Job server, webintelligence server, report Application server, destination job server, list of Values Job Server and Page Server. How many of these servers are not previously available in version 6.5. BO Xi is a collection of new servers. Each server consumes memory and hardware resources. Each server is also a potential error point. Even if the reliability of each server is 99%, the reliability of the entire Bo Xi is only 90% (0.99^11).
MicroStrategy Intelligence is a unified server that guarantees high reliability through an end-to-end clustering mechanism.
