Linux hardware video acceleration Gallium3D-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information, the following is a detailed description. As one of Google's Summer of Code projects this year, Gallium3D will provide hardware video acceleration for Linux. Gallium 3D is a free software and open-source OpenGL implementation that replaces Mesa 3D. Currently, Gallium 3D drivers include NVIDIA's open-source drivers Nouveau and Intel GMA. Currently, most open-source drivers lack GPU-based video decoding acceleration. This is good news for many users who use older graphics cards for more than one year to play high-definition P videos.
