For situations where MySQL is not available for Linux, we can force uninstall, install, step:
1. Find the installed MYSLQ version:
#rpm-Q MySQL
The installed MySQL package name will appear on the screen, such as: mysql-5.0.77-4.el5_5.3
If you are prompted by this command to not have MySQL installed and you are sure that it is installed, you can try it using the following command:
#rpm-qa | Grep-i MySQL
Mysql-server-5.5.11-1.rhel5
2. Forced uninstallation (the full name of the MySQL that is to be uninstalled must be the version number, which is the last resort in the case of an inability to unload, forced unloading, which must be--nodeps with parameter):
#rpm-E--nodeps mysql-5.0.77-4.el5_5.3
3. Successfully uninstalled, the system does not prompt any information, next, install MySQL:
#rpm-IVH mysql-server-5.5.9-1.linux2.6.i386.rpm
4. When the installation is complete, you will be prompted not to forget to design the password and other information for the root user:
