The getty command is one of the three steps required when an operating system such as UNIX is started.

Syntax

Getty [-h] [-d <Configuration File>] [-r <delay seconds>] [-t <timeout seconds>] [-w <wait string>] [terminal no.]
[Connection speed <terminal type> <control line>] or getty [-c <definition configuration file>]

Parameters:

  • -C <definition configuration file> specifies the definition configuration file, which defaults to/etc/gettydefs.
  • -D <configuration file> specifies the configuration file. The default value is/etc/conf. getty.
  • -H force disconnection when the transmission rate is 0.
  • -R <delay seconds> sets the delay time.
  • -T <timeout seconds> set the waiting time for login.
  • -W <wait string> specifies the string to be responded.
