The partition formats supported by Linux are Linux Native and Linux Swap, which are incompatible with the FAT partition formats supported by Windows 9x and NTFS partition formats supported by Windows NT. That is to say, if you want to continue using Windows 9x and NT (I believe most people will do this), Linux must be installed in a separate partition.
1 Linux should be installed in the last extended partition of the hard disk partition. For example, if the original partition is C, D, E, and F, you must install Linux on the F disk. 2. the Linux Swap partition must be 60 MB. The Native partition size is determined by the number of Linux components you want to install, but the minimum guarantee is 240 MB. Since there are currently few Linux applications, Native partitions do not have to be too large. We recommend that the Native partition not exceed 550 MB.
3. Some information about the hardware will be asked during the installation process. Therefore, collect information about the PC hardware in advance. Hardware information mainly includes displays, video cards, mouse, and keyboard. In particular, the display information directly determines the effect of using the graphic interface program fvwm95 after you install Linux.
4. Linux installation is much more difficult than Windows installation. First, it does not support the mouse during installation.
