The newgrp command is similar to the login command. If it is the same account and another group name, log on to the system again. To use the newgrp command to switch to a group, you must be the user of the group. Otherwise, you cannot log on to the specified group. A single user must belong to multiple groups at the same time and use alternate user settings. If no group name is specified, the newgrp command will log on to the default group of the user name.
