Make Windows 2003 easy to identify foreign devices

Windows Server 2003 is Microsoft's newest operating system, but one of the most embarrassing for users is that it can sometimes be recognized and sometimes denied when using a different USB drive or a hard disk that already exists when the system is not installed. For example, when we connect a USB flash drive or a hard disk to this machine, the hard drive also turns, the USB disk light is also bright, but my computer can not see it, of course, can not operate on it, and we joined the USB drive or hard disk is good, encountered this situation how good?

It's easy to get Windows Server 2003 to recognize a USB flash drive or to move a hard disk. The method is to open the Start menu-Control Panel-management tools-Computer Management, on the left side of the Computer Management window, select Disk Management, on the right side of the window will appear the same capacity of "good (activity)" with the USB drive or mobile hard disk is listed.

Right-click on the newly discovered device icon, select "Change Drive letter and Path (C)" To eject the window shown in Figure 1 and nothing in the window (an offline state).

Click "Add" in the window, pop up the window shown in Figure 2, select the destination letter from the combo Drop-down menu on the right side of the window (generally choose the first and default letter), and then click the OK button and the system will automatically add the mobile storage device.

If you go back to the first step and choose "Change Drive letter and Path (C)", you can see that the original window has a new letter (the storage device is activated), which is just a USB drive or hard disk. Open [My computer] found that a USB drive or hard disk has appeared, and can be used openly.
