Manually uninstall Visual Studio 6.0

For some reason, sometimes Visual Studio 6.0 (vs6) cannot be automatically uninstalled. In this case, you must manually uninstall Visual Studio. Otherwise, the re-installation of vs6 may fail. 1. Confirm the latest necessary components of the system and try to delete relevant programs

(1) confirm the latest version of vmhelper. dll: This is a Java Virtual Machine. Compare it with the version on other machines. If not, copy one.

(2) confirm that Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) is up to date. XP is integrated with mdac2.8, which usually does not require installation. If you are not at ease, download SQL Sever 2000 Chinese Personal Edition (Chinese edition is installed in the Chinese operating system) and then install SP4. During the installation process, pay attention to the prompts and select according to the specific situation of your system, do not click Next all the way; otherwise, an error will occur.

2. Delete Registry related items

(3) Delete the following items:

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Devstudio
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Visual Basic
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Visual component Manager
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Visual Modeler
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Visual Studio
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/menuorder/startmenu/& programs/Microsoft Visual maxcompute 6.0
  -Or _
  Msdn Library
  -Or-
  OtherVisual maxcompute 6.0 Components

(4) Delete the following items:

• HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-21-2127521184-1604012920-1887927527-72713/software/Microsoft/Visual Studio
• HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-21-2127521184-1604012920-1887927527-72713/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/menuorder/startmenu/& programs/Microsoft Visual maxcompute 6.0

3. Delete related folders and files

(1) Delete the following folders:

• C:/program files/common files/Microsoft shared/Msdn
• C:/program files/common files/Microsoft shared/Triedit

• C:/program files/common files/Microsoft shared/Wizards98
• C:/Documents and Settings/your login/Application Data/Microsoft/Visual Studio

  Note: C:/program files/common files/Microsoft shared/The triedit folder cannot be deleted in unsafe mode. Remember to delete it after entering safe mode.Otherwise, the installation process will report the following error: wpie15.exe application error, the memory cannot be read (sometimes the memory cannot be written); or the error: Win32 cabinet self-extractorin case of a problem, the appname in the detailed information is wpie15.exe.
