I like Linux very much. I also like to sum up the Linux experience and lessons in my work. Let's talk about Linux kernel in detail here.

Linux Kernel 2.6.32 has been released for a few days. We should also look at the improvements in the new kernel version to bring us new drivers, Kernel Mode settings, and virtualization enhancements.

The test environment is a Thinkpad T60 notebook with Intel Core Duo T2400 processor clocked 1.83 GHz, Intel 945GM + ICH7-M motherboard, 1 GB memory, 80 GB HTS541080G9SA00 SATA hard drive, ATI Radeon Mobility x1400 MB graphics card.

Three kernel versions were evaluated: 2.6.32, 2.6.31, and 2.6.30. The test content includes 1080 p H.264 video playback, resolution, Apache, Postgresql, C-ray, x264, iozone, PostMark, and NAS access tests.

NASA's NAS parallel benchmark starts running with the Linux 2.6.31 kernel. This speed increases a lot of the carry-over speed compared to the Linux 2.6.32 kernel, but not to any greater extent.

Although there are currently only nine testing results shown in this article, we have been running more Linux 2.6.32 Kernels to test in other systems and with more test configuration files. In addition to the performance drop when using EXT4, but with the improvement of the number encoding, we have not encountered many performance-related changes related to the Linux 2.6.32 kernel.

Through my introduction, you will learn about the performance of the Linux kernel.
