Troubleshooting Troubleshooting

This program is dangerous and it will screw up some computers.
Here's how to solve the most common problems and how to recover your computer when a disaster occurs.

Delete/uninstall/restore
To remove any changes you have made, simply run the program and select the menu "Options to restore backup."
Repeat the problem until it says no backup is restored.

Manual Recovery Winload.exe
If the boot freezes or is stuck permanently in the Windows Recovery Environment, you will need to manually restore the Winload.exe.
The program is automatically backed up and you need to replicate winload 1.
EXE winload.exe.

At the end, you repeat the removal step.

This program is dangerous and it'll mess up some computers. Here is solutions to the most common problems and what to recover your computer in case of disaster.

Removing/uninstalling/restoring

To remove any changes made simply run, the program and choose the Menu "Options > Restore Backups". Repeat This until it says no backups were restored.

Manually Restoring Winload.exe

If booting freezes or you get stuck forever in the Windows Recovery environment then you need to manually restore Winload. Exe. The program automatically makes backups, and your need to copy winload~1. EXE to Winload.exe. See this page for specific instructions. At the end of repeat the steps for removing.

Not disabled ....
Error message
Boot/winload security cannot be disabled in Winload.
This may be because it is a modified file or the recent Windows Update has changed something
If you get the above error message from the program, and you have previously used the earlier version of the program, you first need to restore the backup.
See Delete.

If you have never used this program before, it is likely that Windows Update is causing the problem.
You can't do anything until I solve the problem.

AccessViolationException Although updating files
An uncaught exception occurred while updating the file:
System.
AccessViolationException: Attempt to read or write protected memory.
This usually indicates that the other memory is corrupt.
This is because you have or previously installed Windows 8.
Windows 8 bootmgr will replace Windows 7, even after removing Windows 8.

Failed to disable .... Error Message

Failed to disable Bootres/winload security in Winload. EXE, this is likely due to it being a modified file or a recent Windows Update changed something

If you is getting the above error message from the program and you have previously used a earlier version of the program You need restore backups first. See removing.

If you had never used the program before and then it was likely a Windows Update is causing the problem. There is nothing you can do until I address the issue.

AccessViolationException while Updating Files

There was a uncaught exception while updating the files:

System. accessviolationexception:attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often a indication that other memory is corrupt.

this are because you have or previously had Windows 8 Installed. the Windows 8 bootmgr replaces the Windows 7 one and remains even after removing Windows 8. i am working on a fix for this.

Winload.exe.

There is a problem verifying the winload.exe.mui.
Winload.exe.
The MUI file cannot be read as a PE file.
This appears to be the result of not finding the correct language code and MUI files.
You can select a file manually from the Options menu.
On Windows 7 x64, due to the redirection of Warcraft, you will find it difficult to locate files.
To find this type in "C:windows sysnative", enter the file name box and enter the "enter" key.
Then look for the MUI in the appropriate language code folder.
Windows Update and Service pack
Be sure to remove the modified animation (winload) before installing Windows Update or modifying the service pack for the boot file.

EFI's support
The winload path in BCD references an EFI file that is not currently supported
If your startup settings are using EFI instead of Class Bios/pcat, an error will occur when you start the program.
You will not be able to use this program until I release the update with EFI support.

Winload.exe. MUI Problem

There was a problem verifying winload.exe.mui.

The Winload.exe. mui file could not being read as a PE file.

This seems to is caused by failures to find the right language code and thus the MUI files for it. You can manually select the files in the "Options" menu. On Windows 7 x64 You'll have problems finding the files due to WOW redirection. To get around this type in "C:\Windows\sysnative\" into the File name box and then the "Enter" key. Then look for the MUI in the appropriate language code folder.

Windows Updates and Service Packs

Make sure to remove the modified animation before installing Windows Updates or Service Packs that modify the boot files ( Winload. exe or BOOTMGR). Otherwise, able to restore the files from the program afterwards to recover or uninstall the Windows Update To try again.

The Windows Update KB2949927 is released for a few days and then retracted by Microsoft. It is recommended this for the moment you uninstall It by following their guide or running WUSA. exe/uninstall/kb:2949927 from "Run" (winkey+r) to remove it. W7bu does techinically support it however (as long as a program Internet access).

Cannot Create Installer

Boot Updater for Windows 7 have stopped working

This feature is currently broken. If you try to use it, the program would crash. for the moment, you should use the separate ' Installer Creator ' program listed under Downloads to create an Installer From a BS7 file. One day I'll release a fix in the actual program.

EFI Support

The winload path in the BCD references a EFI file which is currently not supported

If you have your boot setup, use EFI instead of the class Bios/pcat, you'll get a error when you start the program. You are not being able to the use of this program until I release a update with EFI support.

Cannot download
If you go back to this page all the time, you'll get into my hot link protection system.

Cannot animate/No files when selecting an animation
Select a folder in the animation selection box.
No files are visible.

GIF animations and movies

Problems with small screen sizes
If your native resolution is lower than 1024x768 (for example, on a netbook), you will always have vist American-style guided animations.
There is no solution yet, it cannot be modified with vista boot modifier.

Widescreen size Issues
No matter what your monitor or video card is, the boot screen is always 1024x768.
There is no way to change this situation now.
On widescreen, this can result in black bars or stretches.
The best way to stretch is to flatten the image in advance so that it can be seen very well when stretched.
However, this will make them a little blurry.

For example, if you have a 16:9 display, add 25px black bars (make 250x200 images) to the left and right of the 200x200 image, and then narrow the image to 200x200.

Change animation properties
These are limited by Windows itself.
No one can find 1024x768 background size, 200x200 animation size, 15 frame rate, 105 frame animation length, or center animation position.

Boot Setup Issues
Multiple boot systems and systems with BitLocker (or other full drive Encryption) can cause many problems.
You can try it, but it may not work.
A recommended multi-boot system is to temporarily disable multi-boot and boot to Windows 7 by setting the BIOS boot drive and boot partition.
After you set up the animation, you can return with no problem.
Full-Drive Encryption changes the animation before the entire drive encryption process is established.

Unable to Download

If you just keep coming back to the This page then you are running into my hotlink protection system. You had a messed referrer setup-disable any plugins or options and you had that mess up the referrer. Other problems is probably due to my server under high utilization. Try downloading at a later time.

Unable to Set animation/no Files Show on when Selecting Animation?

The animation selection box selects a folder. No files would be visible. Select The folder that contains your animation.

Animated GIFs and Movies
