1.2 Key new features 1.2.1 Bare metal service Management (ironic)

The MOS 8.0 is the first publicly released OpenStack release to support bare metal management services ironic, and bare metal management services provide bare metal resource provisioning and lifecycle management for cloud platforms. By using bare metal services, you can deploy high-load, performance-sensitive applications such as Cassandra, hadoop, NFV, and more in bare metal, while also combining with big data Services Sahara to improve single-machine performance for Hadoop clusters.

1.2.2 Keystone authentication method based on Fernet

MOS 8.0 pioneered the use of the newly developed Fernet-based Keystone authentication approach

1.2.3 introduces a new performance test package for improved stability
    1. Tested networking, storage I/O and Ceph, and modified some bugs, such as Race condition while creating/deleting cinder volumes
    2. Supports deploying RabbitMQ to separate nodes for improved performance
    3. Automatic test coverage up to 70%
    4. In the Liberty version, more than 1100 bugs have been fixed.
1.2.4 supports distributed OpenStack Controllers deployments for increased scalability and reliability
    • Deploy OpenStack control nodes across enclosures to support tunnel-based networks
1.2.5 Kubernetes
    • The new Murano Package
    • IaaS automatically expands to Google Cloud
    • True hybrid cloud support for automation
1.2.6 Cloud Foundry Support

Mirantis and Pivotal by partnering to enable MOS to support Cloud Foundry. (Source: Http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2407971/mirantis-and-pivotal-partner-to-support-cloud-foundry-on-openstack)

    • One-click on MOS to deploy Cloud Foundry
    • Applications in MOS Murano can be deployed to the Cloud Foundry
    • MOS also supports other PAAs, including Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and other PAAs

3. Personal reviews

1. Private cloud ecosystem, Mirantis did a good job! Mirantis is taking the "MOS as Cloud Controller + certified Third party components" route.

2. MOS 8.0 has been enhanced in terms of scalability, but for the scale already tested (hundreds of nodes, thousands of virtual machines), it should be said to be seriously inadequate

3. The Liberty version, the function optimization is not many, the stability has improved

4. There are still so many bugs.

5. Thanks to Mirantis for his persistent contribution to the community

6. Mirantis began exerting force on PaaS and Hybrid Cloud

7. Looking forward to the development of Mirantis and Ucloud joint ventures in China
