An AIX system, memory 16G, installation Oracle database, just applied online, found the problem.
1. The phenomenon of problems
The client cannot connect to the database, listener is functioning correctly, but the following error has been reported after restarting listener:
Tns-12549:tns:operating System Resource Quota exceeded
Tns-12560:tns:protocol Adapter Error
Tns-00519:operating System Resource Quota exceeded
Ibm/aix RISC system/6000 Error:11:resource temporarily unavailable
Jianting failed to start, observing the background connection to the database is not a lot of sessions.
2. Problem-handling ideas
Since the hint resources exceeded the limit, no outside and pressure and limit related, the system is new deployment, equipment performance OK, overall monitoring down the pressure is not.
So from another point of view, since it is a newly-made system, is it related to some parameters that are not related to the "limit"?
Since the new deployment of the environment, simply calm down to study the need to modify the parameters, gradually AIX maxuproc parameters surfaced. This maxuproc parameter can be interpreted as "max user Processes", which limits the number of processes that are available to each user (similar to the limit on the session number of Oracle processes parameters). The default value of this parameter is 128, which is enough?!
3. Solve the problem
Now that we have found the problem, it is easier to deal with it.
1) View the current value of the Maxuproc parameter
# LSATTR-E-L sys0| grep Maxuproc
2) using command Chdev to increase the Maxuproc parameter to 1024
# chdev-l Sys0-a maxuproc=1024
Parameters can be modified dynamically, that is, the change takes effect.
Fix it, the fault has been eliminated.
Chdev command Use method reference connection

4. Summary
Fortunately, the problem found early, if the online only to find this problem, the price will be disastrous.
Planning and planning are important, and such issues need to be accumulated and kept in mind.
