Step 1 install Gnome in the ubuntu Software Center.
Then go to system -- language selection, find chinese (simple) installation in it, and set ibus.
Then perform the following operations.
Ubuntu11.10 is installed with Unity and more sophisticated Unity-2d 4.x by default, and I prefer Unity-2d for both machine and personal reasons.
However, if you want to modify the default logon environment of the system, you will find that the previous method does not work (the old version was modified in the modified User Group ).
We know that Ubuntu 11.10 uses lightdm as the default logon environment, so the related configuration may appear in the Ldm configuration, so I found the Ldm configuration, located:
/Etc/lightdm. conf
Open it with gedit: www.2cto.com
Sudo gedit/etc/lightdm. conf
Some things are found: [SeatDefaults] autologin-guest = falseautologin-user = redautologin-user-timeout = 0autologin-session = lightdm-autologingreeter-session = unity-greeteruser-session = ubuntu
Set
User-session = ubuntu
Changed
User-session = ubuntu-2d
Save the settings. After restarting, you will find that the Unity-2d is used as the default environment.
This method also applies to changing to Gnome3 as the default environment. If you are not clear about the name of your environment, you can log out and view the environment name on the logon interface.
If you don't want to do so many things as hard as above, you can use a command to solve it:
Sudo/usr/lib/lightdm-set-defaults-s <session-name>
For example, if I want to change to a unity-2d, then:
Sudo/usr/lib/lightdm-set-defaults-s ubuntu-2d
Log out, and then log on to the system. Now the system is in the Chinese version. After logging on to the system, click the keyboard at the top of the window-preferences to set pinyin, OK, and over.
