Modifying the character encoding of a MySQL table

The following error was reported in the Select for Chinese query

ERROR 1267 (HY000): illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,implicit) and (utf8_general_ci,coercible) for operation ' =

Look at the encoding of the table

Show CREATE TABLE t_user_friend;

Discover that it is latin1 encoded and need to be turned into UTF8

The command is as follows

ALTER TABLE T_user_friend convert to character set UTF8;

Of course, you can also set the default encoding for MySQL client and server

Vi/etc/mysql/my.conf

Add Default-character-set=utf8 under [MySQL]

Add below [mysqld]

Character-set-server=utf8

Collaction-server = Utf8-greneral-cli

Restart MySQL server when you are finished modifying
