Mounting the optical drive on a linux Virtual Machine reports "mount: you must specify the filesystem type" error handling, specifyfilesystem
1. Environment Description
Host OS: Windows 7
Virtual Machine Software: VMware Workstation
Virtual Operating System: linux 6.3 (File System EXT4)
2. Error
[Root @ ol6-single ~] # Mount/dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom
Mount: you must specify the filesystem type |
3. Cause Analysis
(1) because it is a virtual machine, the first suspect is that the "CD/DVD" in the virtual machine's device is not set, however, check that the "Connection" has a specified ISO file on the Use ISOimage file to exclude this cause.
(2) Check that "Connected" in the Device status of "CD/DVD" is not checked. After this check box is checked (you do not need to restart the virtual machine), the optical drive can be mounted normally.
4. Select "Connected" in Device status of "CD/DVD" and then mount the optical drive.
[Root @ ol6-single ~] # Mount/dev/cdrom/mnt/cdrom
Mount: block device/dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only |
Load holding successful.

Mounting the linux CD always prompts mount: you must specify the filesystem type
Your system cannot identify the data format in this disc.
It should not be said that this problem should not occur because the file system of the Linux system recognized the library for support by the iso9660 system for a long time.
Mount mounting is identified by this library.
You 'd better check the file system that your CD uses first. After confirming the mounting, set the mount file system type in the-t xxxxx mode.
However, the file systems iso9660 and udf should have been supported by default.
This error occurs when a CD is mounted in linux. How can you solve this problem? you must specify the filesystem
You must specify the format of your File System
Mkdir/mnt/media
Mount-t iso9660/dev/cdrom/mnt/media (iso9660 is the disc format)
Mount permission required
Are you sure you are root? Are you sure the device file corresponding to your optical drive is/dev/cdrom?
