Windows Vista or Windows 7: Windows Live Messenger cannot be started, with no prompt
This is a bug caused by Microsoft's MSN upgrade. The solution is as follows (from Microsoft ):
Dear Windows Live Messenger user,
Today (July 22, February 4), some users reported that Windows Live Messenger cannot be started normally. After investigation, the problem was caused by a fault in updating system files in the protection shield 2.0 installed by some users, which caused the messenger program to fail to start normally.
Currently, this problem has been fixed. Visit the http://help.msn.cn/kb/kb110038.html web site and download the repair tool. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
