In MySQL, leave a little space between each command

If this is the case,

$query = "SELECT * from Books where". $searchtype. " Like '% '. $searchterm. "%‘";

Then Print_r () will output: SELECT * from books where titlelike '%java% ',
Like and those are together, the command is wrong,
This should be the case:

$query = "SELECT * from Books where". $searchtype. "Like '%". $searchterm. "%‘";

Print_ () Output: SELECT * from books where title like '%java% ' 1
Success..

There are spaces on both sides of like.
