MySQL Login error user root@localhost (using password:no)

Environment: Redhat 5.7 installed MySQL 5.0
Startup succeeds after installing MySQL, but using mysql-uroot-p login yes, password error, OK password not set
Error hint: Access denied for user ' root ' @ ' localhost ' (using Password:no)
The solution is as follows: 

1.先关闭mysql服务xiaopeng# /etc/init.d/mysqld stop2.输入操作命令xiaopeng# mysqld_safe --user=mysql --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking &3.连接mysqlxiaopeng# mysql -uroot mysqlmysql> update user set Password=PASSWORD(‘newpassword‘) where USER=‘root‘;mysql> flush PRIVILEGES;mysql> quit4.重启mysql服务xiaopeng# /etc/init.d/mysqld restartxiaopeng# mysql -uroot -pEnter password:<newpassword>
