MySQL query efficiency issues for char and varchar

I've seen a lot of information.

varchar (size) variable-length character value saves space and queries are inefficient

char (size) fixed-length character value, wasted space, high query efficiency

But the actual test of the char (300W) varchar data

From a query point of view, or varchar after all the reliable

Query efficiency (without using indexes ): varchar field queries are faster than Char

By comparing char100 need to query time 1.10s and varchar100 need time is 973ms
