Delete from TableName has a self-growth ID, unchanged, a bit is Baidu's:
TRUNCATE table is functionally the same as a DELETE statement without a WHERE clause: Both delete all rows in the table. However, TRUNCATE TABLE is faster than DELETE and uses less system and transaction log resources. The Delete statement deletes one row at a time and records an entry in the transaction log for each row that is deleted.
Truncate,delete,drop to compare:
TRUNCATE TABLE: Delete content, free space, but do not delete definition.
Delete TABLE: Deletes the definition without deleting the content and does not free up space.
Drop TABLE: Removes content and definitions and frees up space.
Truncate deleted more thoroughly, all log records will not be, and is a full clear, there is no where condition.
Another big difference is that the self-growing ID column will also be zeroed after truncate, and the record ID inserted after 1 starts.
But after the delete you insert the record, the ID will start with the last largest number.
Delete can match the where condition.
