MySQL's Soundex () function

Source: Internet
Author: User

The SOUNDEX () function is an algorithm that converts any text string into a letter pattern that describes the speech representation.
He considered similar to pronounced characters and bytes, and was able to compare the pronunciation of the text rather than the letter.

Eg: if there is an input error when searching for a customer named Y.lee in the library, the following SQL will not return any results.
SELECT CUSTOMER_NAME FROM CUSTOMER WHERE CUSTOMER_NAME = ‘Y LEE‘

And if you write this:
SELECT CUSTOMER_NAME FROM CUSTOMER WHERE SOUNDEX(CUSTOMER_NAME) =SOUNDEX(‘Y LEE‘)

Because the two are pronounced similar, their soundex values match, which returns a single piece of data.
