NAT technology boosts IPv6 transition technical solutions

In recent years, many words such as broadband speed-up, copper-to-copper withdrawal, and WIFI have been mentioned from time to time. Many applications such as Weibo, mobile payment, and mobile games have become increasingly familiar, the increasing popularity of smartphones and tablets has led to the explosive growth of mobile Internet applications. The emergence of mobile applications has promoted the development of the mobile Internet, and has also boosted the increase of broadband users and the increase in bandwidth.

However, the depletion of IPv4 addresses makes the three major operators slow down when broadband users continue to grow. As a "National Strategy", IPv6 service technology is still immature, and it takes some time before it is officially commercially available. Therefore, the three major domestic operators have to make intensive deployment of IPv6 transition technology solutions, at the same time, regulatory authorities have more stringent requirements for information security audits.

Therefore, mature and rapid deployment solutions, low operating costs, and fast log query are the focus of large-scale Internet access service providers, and are also the most basic factor for enterprises to increase revenue and reduce expenditure.

NAT technology boosts IPv6 transition technical solutions

According to data, the number of fixed-line broadband subscribers of China's three major carriers continues to grow by 10% every year, and the pressure on IPv4 address resources is also increasing. To solve this problem, experts suggest using two solutions to solve this problem during the construction of broadband MAN.

The first solution is to add a NAT board to the Bras/CR to implement the NAT Function. The second solution is for man of different sizes, the independent CGN (Carrier Grade NAT, also known as LSN Large-Scale NAT) device is mounted next to the Bras/CR to complete the NAT device and implement other related functions in a targeted manner.

However, there are four obvious defects in the plug-in scheme. The first is that board-based devices can only perform NAT, which also affects the basic functions of High-speed forwarding of Bras/CR devices, second, when IPv6 transition technology is officially commercialized, carriers need to completely replace boards that support IPv6. Third, when the system needs to be resized, in the plug-in scheme, in order to ensure NAT redundancy, each time a NAT board is added, one must be added as a redundant backup, which will inevitably lead to a waste of investment, fourth, the Board-based solution is bound with the manufacturers of Bras/CR devices for existing network applications. It is closely coupled and cannot fully utilize the competition mechanism to develop the man in a healthy and sustainable manner.

Compared with the plug-in solution, the stand-alone solution has more advantages. The stand-alone CGN device not only provides operation-level NAT functions, but also provides traffic control, security protection, URL filtering, and other related functions. It can effectively help operators build smart, content-based, and healthy man pipelines.

In particular, compared with the plug-in solution, the carrier uses an independent CGN device, which will make the Bras/CR and other manufacturers relatively independent, avoid bundling With Bras and CR manufacturers, and reduce the conversion cost of equipment brands.

Combination solutions may be better

Based on the comprehensive conditions such as functions, costs, efficiency, and maturity, we recommend that you choose the independent bypass solution.

First of all, in terms of NAT Session-level processing technology, stand-alone devices are far more advanced than traditional plug-in devices that focus on second-and third-tier route exchange manufacturers, thus improving NAT efficiency and capacity.

Second, in addition to supporting operation-level NAT, the independent bypass scheme can also be used with the certification and billing backend for tracing, URL filtering, QoS, and other additional services and security value-added functions, this will further protect the security of connected users and enhance the Internet experience of connected users.
