When talking about the word "Network Neighbor", I believe most people will subconsciously think that it is just a way to "share" Resources in the LAN, and it is also very simple to use, as long as you double-click its icon, you can easily access all the shared resources in the LAN. In fact, the use of "Network neighbors" is not so simple. Sometimes, to achieve a special purpose, you need to change your mind and perform some special "gameplay" on it. If you don't believe it, let's take a look at some new "gameplay" related to "online neighbors". I believe that after reading this article, you will lament "online neighbors, not just sharing "!

1. Make "Network Neighbor" unable to find myself

If your computer stores important data and does not want it to be easily accessed by other users in the LAN through the network neighbor window, you can find a way to make "Network Neighbor" unable to find its computer sharing icon, so that other illegal users will not be able to damage important data in their workstation through the network neighbor window; the specific steps for "Network neighbors" to fail to find their workstation are as follows:

First, open the system running dialog box and execute the Registry Editing Command "Regedit". On the displayed registry editing page, move the cursor to the Registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLanManServerParameters;

In the subwindow on the Right of Figure 1, check whether the "Hidden" double byte value can be found. If not, right-click the blank position of the window, in the shortcut menu that appears, click "new" and "double byte value" commands, name the newly created double byte value "Hidden", and double-click the key value, in the Value Setting dialog box of the book, enter "1" and click "OK.

If you are not familiar with registry editing, you can directly execute "net config workstation/hidden: yes "command (you can directly use your computer name to replace the" Workstation "here), so that you can easily hide your computer, however, "Network neighbors" cannot be found.

2. Remote Monitoring of "Network neighbors"

What can remote workstation be monitored through the "Network Neighbor" window? I believe you will be surprised to read this title! Indeed, in Windows 98, you can use the remote management function of the system and monitor and manage remote workstations through the "Network neighbors" window:

First, go to the monitored computer, open its system "Control Panel" window, and double-click the password icon. In the subsequent password Setting dialog box, select "Remote Management;

Then, select the "Start remote management of this server" project on the corresponding tab page to activate the password input box, and then enter the permission password to monitor the remote workstation, click "OK" to exit the permission setting window of the monitored workstation;

When you perform remote monitoring on the monitored computer, you can double-click the "Network Neighbor" icon on the desktop on any other computer and find the target computer icon in the displayed network neighbor window, right-click the tool and execute the "properties" command in the shortcut menu. In the "Property Settings" window that appears, select the "tool" label, click the "Management Program" button on the tab page shown in Figure 2. Then, the system prompts you to enter the permission password for remote monitoring. Once you enter the correct password, click "OK" to fully monitor all hard disk information of the target workstation.

3. Show "Network neighbors"

After opening the "Network neighbors" window, once you find that your computer is not in this window, it is likely that the network parameters of the Local Computer are not set correctly, in this case, you can troubleshoot the problem one by one according to the following steps:

First, check whether the NIC has been installed. If the NIC has been successfully installed, open the local connection attribute setting window shown in 3, check whether the "Microsoft network client" option, "Microsoft network file and printer sharing" option, and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" option are selected in this window; if these components have been selected, check whether their respective attribute parameters are set correctly. If these network parameters are incorrect, the "Network Neighbor" window cannot display your computer name.

Next, check whether other components are selected in the network connection property settings window, for example, "TCP/IP-dial-up adapter", "Microsoft friendly Logon", "Microsoft Virtual Private Network Adapter", and "IPX/SPX compatible protocol", if selected, you should cancel all of them. After all, these components are rarely used at ordinary times. If you select them, they will affect the normal internet access of the workstation;

Note that you must enter the correct system logon password when you start your computer. After you log on to the Microsoft Network, "Network neighbors" will display your logon password, if you click "cancel" in the System Login Dialog Box, the "Network Neighbor" will not display any workstation name.

4. Disable "Network neighbors"

If you print documents on a Windows 2003 workstation, you will find that your documents are often "run" on a shared printer on the LAN rather than "run" at a local printer ", what's going on? The "Network Neighbor" of Windows 2003 has the function of Automatically Searching for LAN shared printers by default. This function regularly scans the entire LAN. Once a shared printer is found, it will set it to the local default printer, so that the local printing documents will naturally "run" to the shared printer, rather than output in the local printer. To prevent "Network neighbors" from setting the shared printer as the default printer, you can disable Windows 2003 "Network neighbors" to automatically search for shared printers in the LAN as follows:

Click "Control Panel" in the "Start" menu. In the displayed control panel window, click "Tools"/"Folder Options" in the menu bar ";

In the folder option Setting dialog box that appears, select the "View" option. On the option page shown in figure 4, deselect the "automatically search for network folders and printers" check box, click "OK" to disable "Network neighbors.

5. Drive "Network neighbors" away from "shared documents"

When you open the Windows XP workstation's network neighbor window, you will always see that the "shared document" folder exists. After entering this folder, you will be able to know which resources are shared on the local computer. To prevent others from accessing local shared documents at will, you can find a way to "Remove" shared documents from the Internet neighbor window ". However, the common method of deleting folders cannot "drive away" shared documents. Therefore, the author provides the following methods to forcibly "drive away" shared documents in the neighborhood window:

First, click the "run" command in the "Start" menu of the Windows XP system desktop, enter the "regedit" string command in the "Open Run" box, and click "OK, open the registry editing page and hover your mouse over HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion
ExplorerMyComputerNameSpaceDelegateFolders branch;

Next, under the "DelegateFolders" project shown in figure 5, select the "{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}" option, and click the "edit" menu item in the corresponding window, click the DELETE command from the drop-down menu and restart the Windows XP workstation system. Then, when you open the "Network neighbors" Window of the Windows XP workstation, you will find that the "shared document" has been forcibly evicted.

6. Accelerate access by "Network neighbors"

In Windows 2000, when you double-click the "computer nearby" icon in "Network Neighbor", you will find that it takes a long time to enter the window, can I quickly browse other shared computers on the lan? The answer is yes. By default, "Network neighbors" of Windows 2000 system automatically searches for the shared printers, shared folders, and local "task plans" of local computers before searching for other workstations, then, the system searches for and displays other shared computers in the LAN. As a result, the browsing speed of other computers naturally slows down. To speed up browsing, you can set up a Windows 2000 system as follows, so that network neighbors can directly search for other workstations without searching for local shared printers, shared folders, and task plans:

Click Start or run. In the displayed dialog box, enter Regedit, the Registry Editing Command. in the edit window that appears, place the cursor in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace branch;

Select the "2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D" key value under the "NameSpace" project in figure 6, click the "edit" option in the menu bar, and click the "delete" command from the drop-down menu, in this way, the Windows 2000 system will not search for local network printers in the future;

Removing the D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF key value under the NameSpace project in the same way will allow Windows 2000 to ignore various network-related task plans; after completing the preceding settings, restart the computer and then double-click "computer nearby" in the "Network Neighbor" window. Then, you can quickly browse other workstations.

7. Move the location of "Network Neighbor"

When accessing shared resources in the LAN, you often need to use the "Network neighbors" icon on the system desktop. However, once many application windows are opened on the desktop, it is not that convenient to access the "Network neighbors" icon, because you need to minimize all program windows one by one before you can see the "Network Neighbor" icon. To facilitate access to "Network neighbors", can we find a way to "Port" its icon"
