002 Distributed Storage Ceph
New Century private cloud distributed storage scheme considerations:
Present situation:
os:centos6.5
Virtualization software: KVM (default version of Qemu+libvirt)
Block storage: Procurement of LVM local disks as cinder volume back-end storage
Goal
A. Upgrade qemu-* related software packages, whether the previously created machine has an impact;
Validation results:
Upgrade process:
RPM-UVH qemu-*--force
Service LIBVIRTD Restart
As can be seen from the upgrade process, we just upgrade the software, the original production environment is running the VM has been running in memory as a process
(At this point they are still using the old version of QEMU-KVM, our upgraded command does not work for them, to use the new features, the original VM must be restarted, without restarting the original virtual machine has no effect)
B. Upgrade the qemu-* related software package and whether the cloud disk can be mounted properly by cinder the local LVM storage mode;
Verification Result: After upgrading compute03 QEMU, the test environment can still mount properly using LVM storage, and the original mount will not be interrupted
C. After modifying the cinder.conf,nova.conf, whether the old virtual machine and the Cloud drive mount has the influence;
Validation result: If you want to use a ceph cluster as the storage backend for cinder-volume, you need to add a cinder-volume to specify that the Cinder-volume storage backend is a pool of ceph,
Calculate several points only need to add access to the pool's account authentication
1. The original virtual machine is based on the underlying KVM operation, based on the original Nova configuration file, has built its own image locally, and is configured to save in the XML file, and the newly modified profile settings will put the image directly into Ceph, only valid for the newly created machine, and it has no effect on the machine that has been built.
2. Cloud disk mount, local LVM Mount does not have an account authentication mechanism, so in the Nova configuration file for Ceph account authentication, the LVM mounted cloud disk does not affect.
D. Whether the cloud disk can be mounted properly by cinder local LVM storage after modifying cinder.conf,nova.conf
Verification Result: After upgrading compute03 QEMU, the test environment can still mount properly using LVM storage, and the original mount will not be interrupted
