Fedora 23 Workstation has been released. This is a reliable, easy-to-use, and powerful operating system. The user group is for family users, enthusiasts, students, and software developers. Fedora 23 Workstation contains the latest GNOME 3.18 from the GNOME community. This version of GNOME contains updates to the file manager, as well as new calendars and Todo programs. Fedora 23 Workstation is the first Fedora version that contains LibreOffice 5.

File Management

File Manager Files (Nautilus) displays the progress when copying or moving large Files. You can click a button on the title bar to display the progress. Searching and renaming files becomes faster and easier to use.

The support for Google Drive content is better. After configuring Google's online account in the control center, you can see the content in Google Drive in Files, and the quick entrance to Google Drive is displayed on the sidebar. LibreOffice 5

Fedora 23 Workstation includes LibreOffice 5, the latest version of this widely used efficiency tool. LibreOffice contains LibreOffice Writer used to create documents, LibreOffice Calc used for spreadsheet computing, and LibreOffice Impress used for demonstration. LibreOffice 5 has a large number of new features and improvements, including:

• Preview styles on the sidebar

• Built-in image Cropping

• Calc data bar Interface

• Time-Stamp protocol supported when exporting PDF files

• Improved the import and export of Multi-clock file formats

New Calendar Program

The new calendar program is easier to edit and use the calendar. Supports the month and year views of important days, making searching easier. Calendars can be stored locally in Fedora Workstation, or remotely created on a Calendar similar to Google Calendar or OwnCloud.

The new calendar can be integrated with the online account on your Fedora Workstation. After you add an online account in the control center, the calendar program displays the calendar of these accounts.

Builder IDE

Builder is also better at workora 23 Workstation. It includes the following new features and improvements:

• Integrated terminal and System Monitoring

• More precise code auto-completion

• Support Python code auto-completion

• Searchable document index

• Build target list

• List of searchable symbols of the current file

Firmware update

Linux Vendor Firmware Service is now integrated into the Software application of workora 23 Workstation. When your hardware has available firmware updates (such as BIOS updates), the Software application will remind you. You can install it directly in the Software application.

Wayland

Wayland support has also been improved in workora 23 Workstation. You can view the session preview when logging on using the GNOME Wayland session. After selecting the account to log on to, you can also click the gear button to select a Wayland session. Workstation team's current plan is to make Wayland the default Display Server of Fedora on Fedora 24.

Get and install Fedora 23 Workstation

To install Fedora Workstation on a new machine, you can download the live image, copy it to the USB flash disk, and start it with the U disk. To upgrade the previous version of Fedora Workstation, refer to the relevant guidelines of Fedora magazine.
