We mentioned earlier that in Resource Manager mode, the virtual machine is no longer corresponding to the cloud service, and there is no longer a level two domain name like xxx.cloudapp.net. In Resource Manager mode, the network card, public IP address, and security group of the virtual machine are modular, which means that the network card can be attached (associate) to the virtual machine, and the IP address can be attached to the network card.

The network adapter can specify that a dynamic private IP address or a fixed private IP address (intranet address) be used, and a public IP address can be bound to the network card. If you do not specify a public IP address for the NIC, the virtual machine using this network card will be a "pure intranet"-unable to communicate with the external network. Compared with the virtual machine in Classic mode, the user has more flexibility to determine whether a virtual machine should have the ability to communicate outside the network, which is meaningful to enhance the security of the system, after all, more than one external network communication, but also a network security threats. There is also the ability to save some public IP addresses, we know that IPV4 has been allocated.

The public IP address is designed as a modular component in Resource Manager mode, and since it is a modular component, it means that it can be reused. For example, when a virtual machine is deleted, its network card and public IP address can be preserved and attached to other virtual machines for use. Alternatively, when a network card is removed, the public IP address attached to the NIC can also be associated with other network cards. This function is essentially equivalent to the reserved IP in Classic mode (Service Management), but it is obvious that the modular design makes public IP addresses more flexible and convenient to use.

In the public IP address setting, there is a "DNS name label", yes, we can assign a corresponding domain name to a public IP address. Compared to the cloud service domain name in Classic mode:

• The domain name of the public IP address is optional, and if you do not specify a domain name, the virtual machine can only be accessed through an IP address.
• Domain names are no longer xxx.cloudapp.net, new 4-level domain names have been added to the data center name, and domain names have become much longer, but fewer naming conflicts.

Let's imagine a scenario where a virtual machine fails to continue to work, the user only needs to rebuild or start the backup VM, and then associate the failed virtual machine's NIC and public IP address with the new virtual machine, instead of needing to modify the DNS resolution to continue to provide services externally.

In addition, for many older systems that only use public IP for authentication and connectivity, virtual machines in the Resource Manager mode are fully capable of meeting their needs.
