New installation and upgrade of Cacti for Windows
Cacti runs many dependent software, such as mysql, PHP, Apache, Spine, and rrd. One installation is cumbersome and error-prone, if the installation is completely new, you can install it using the windows installation package provided by the Forum, which is very simple.
At present, the latest version of Cacti is 0.8.8b, but the installation package version is only 0.8.8a. It doesn't matter. We can install the installation package first, and then separately download Cacti 0.8.8b to overwrite it.
Cacti installation package address: Click to download
Cacti 0.8.8b address: Click to download
After installing the installation package, find the location of Cacti, usually under D: \ Cacti \ Apache2 \ htdocs, where D: \ Cacti is the installation path selected during installation, there is a cacti folder under the htdocs folder. Delete the folder and decompress the Cacti 0.8.8b file.
Put the cacti folder in htdocs. Modify the include \ config. php file in the cacti folder and change $ database_password = "cactiuser" in the file to $ database_password = "cactipw"; otherwise, the database cannot be connected.
Then open your server address and add cacti to install it, for example, http: // 127.0.0.1/cacti/
After installation, remember to change the admin password.
Cacti migration and upgrade
In fact, the above installation process is upgraded, but it does not back up historical data. If it is a cacti upgrade in the production environment or migration, you need to back up database files, rrd files, plugins and other files.
1. Back up the database: in windows, you can use Navicat to back up the database file: Navicat: Click here to download
Then you can use Navicat to restore the server.
2. Back up the resource, rra, scripts, and plugins folders in the original cacti directory and overwrite them on the new server.
3. Note that cacti keeps the mysql username and password unchanged during upgrade and migration.
