Notes on Linux compressed and decompressed commands

Compression: tar-cf new.tar data.txt

Decompress: tar-xf new.tar-C tmp/----> If tmp exists first, you can put the decompressed file under the tmp directory.

Compression: gzip data.txt (gzipcan only compress files but cannot compress directories. After compression, the file is suffixed with .gz, and the original file will be overwritten)

Decompress: gzip-d data.txt.gz

Compress: bzip2 data.txt(only files can be compressed, and .bz2 exists)

Decompress: bzip2-d data.txt.bz2

Compression: xz data.txt (only files can be compressed, which exists in. xz)

Decompress: xz-d data.txt. xz
