For XP systems, how can I transfer desktops to other disks?
Not only does "desktop" point to other folders, "Start Menu", "Application Data", "Local Settings", and "cd"
Burning, cookies, history, nethood, printhood, sendto, and templates"
"Temporary Internet Files", "favorites", "programs", "Start", "Administrative Tools", and "Start Menu" can all point to other folders. Only one exception cannot be moved: "My most recent documents ".
The following describes how to move the "desktop" to the "zhuomian" folder in the "XYZ" folder of the D Drive:
1. First, copy all the files and folders (including hidden files) in the C:/Documents and Settings/user name/Desktop Folder to the d:/XYZ/zhuomian folder.

Open the Registry Editor and expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion.
/Explorer/shellfolders, find the string value (reg_sz) Name "desktop" on the right side of the window, right-click it, and select "Modify (m )".
In the edit string window, change the value of "data value (v)" to "D:/XYZ/zhuomian" and confirm.
3. Open
Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion in the Registry Editor.

Shellfolders, find the string value (reg_sz) Name "desktop" on the right side of the window (if not, create a new one), right-click it, and select "Modify (m )".
In the edit string window, change the value of "data value (v)" to "D:/XYZ/zhuomian" and confirm.
4. Double-click
On the left of the registry editor window, click "my computer" to fold the branches into "my computer" and click "Edit (E)" on the menu bar )", select "Search (f)" from the drop-down menu.
In the "Search" window, enter "C:/documents and
Settings/user name/desktop, click "find next (f)" to find all
Settings/user name/desktop:
The settings/user name/desktop section is changed to "D:/XYZ/zhuomian", and the rest remain unchanged. After finding and modifying one, click "edit" in the menu bar.
(E) ", select" find next (x) F3 "from the drop-down menu until the registry is fully searched.
5. logout or restart to take effect. Then you can delete the C:/Documents and Settings/user name/Desktop Folder and its contents.
Note: Some folders can be deleted only after they are logged on with another administrator user name.
Generally, only step 1 is required to move "Application Data" and "Local Settings". To move other folders, you only need to perform steps 4th, 2, 3, and 5.
