One-Sample T-Test using SPSS)

In example 1 (SPSS implementation) of parameter hypothesis test under 0-1 Population distribution, we briefly introduce the parameters for using SPSS to test the two distributions. Today we will continue to look at how to use SPSS for a single Sample T-Test (One-Sample T Test ). Example:

Example 1: it is known that the average score of the fifth-grade students in a city last year was 400 seconds, this year, the city sampled 60 fifth-grade students with a 400-meter score (see the following document for data: "CH6 students 1 Primary School Students 400-meter v improved. sav), test whether the average 400-meter score of fifth-grade students in the city should be 100 seconds (whether to increase or decrease )?

Analysis: the hypothesis of this test is:

H0: the average score of fifth-grade students in the city is still 400 seconds.

H1: the average 400-meter score of fifth-grade students in the city is not 100 seconds.

Open SPSS and read data

You can judge from the results:

1. p = 0.287> 0.05. At the significance level of 5%, the hypothesis H0 cannot be rejected.

2. the endpoint of the 95% confidence interval is positive and negative, which must cover the overall mean. The null hypothesis (H0) should be accepted ).

This conclusion is beyond the expectation of many people, because the average sample has dropped significantly, 105.38500000000003. In fact, this is because there is a sample value of 400 seconds, which leads to the illusion.

Let's look at a more interesting example.

Example 1: it is known that the average score of the fifth-grade students in a city last year was 400 seconds, this year, the city sampled 60 fifth-grade students with a 400-meter score (see the following document for data: "CH6 students 1 Primary School Students 400 meters v increased by B. sav), test whether the average 400-meter score of fifth-grade students in the city should be 100 seconds (whether to increase or decrease )?

Same as above. Open SPSS and read data. Result:

Judging from the results:

The significance probability of the t statistic value is 0.005 less than 1%, and the zero hypothesis is rejected at the level of 1% errors. It can be considered that the average score of fifth-grade students in the city dropped significantly by 400 this year.
