Photoshop automatically adds a text watermark to a photo

People have different views on the watermark on the photo. In any case, adding watermarks is a good way to protect your work, and most photographers think it works. Although software such as Lightroom or aperture has a built-in watermark function, this article will introduce a very simple way to use Photoshop to automatically add watermarks to photos.

Step 1. Select watermark

The form of watermarks can have many kinds, the author prefers to do in the lower right corner of the photo with a simple text description to do the watermark. There are, of course, many more advanced and perfect watermarks, but sometimes they affect the overall beauty of the picture.

Our first step is to select a form of watermark. Here we choose the text "Copyright©nphoto.net".

Step 2. Adjust picture size

Next, we open a picture in Photoshop and resize it. This size should be the most common size of the photos you use to publish to the Web, because you should not be able to change the size of the picture after adding the watermark. Here we select 640 pixels across the side.

Step 3. Create a new action

The "Action" feature in Photoshop can help us do a lot of repetitive work. You can see the "Actions" panel on the right side of the software window. If not, click the "Window"-"action" call out. "Action" works by recording your series of actions and repeating them later.

Now we're going to create a new action, click on the top right corner menu, select "New Action", and enter the action name, such as "watermark." After logging, you must make sure that all of the following actions are necessary to create watermarks, and do not have redundant operations because they are all logged.

Step 4. Enter watermark text

The next step is to enter the watermark text. Here, enter the text that you can use for each photo, because the action is generic. After you finish typing, you can modify the text format until you are satisfied. When finished, press the ENTER key on the keypad to exit the text tool.

Step 5. Adjust Watermark Location

Suppose you're also going to put the watermark in the lower right corner of the photo. First, hold down the CTRL key to select the watermark text layer and photo (background layer).

Then, select the menu "Layer"-align-bottom, then select Layer-align-right. Now the text watermark is aligned in the lower right corner of the photo. For beauty, you can move the type layer to the left and up by 20 pixels (select the type layer, hold down the SHIFT key, click the arrow key once to move 10 pixels).

Step 6. Stop Recording

Add watermark to this is done, all the actions above are recorded, click on the Red Square button at the bottom of the action panel to stop the recording process. Now a complete "action" is done, you can call it at any time, open a photo, press the "Play Selected action", Photoshop will automatically add a watermark for the photo, even can also be a one-time for the entire folder of the photos added watermark.
