Some MAC computers will automatically go to sleep after a period of inactivity. If your Mac supports it and you need to continue with a task such as burning a CD or DVD, you can prevent your Mac from going to sleep.

  1. Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences, then click Energy Saver.
  2. Drag the slider that controls your computer's sleep time to never, or select the Prevent your computer from automatically going to sleep when the monitor is turned off check box (if available).

When your Mac finishes the task, change the settings in the Energy Saver preferences so that your Mac goes to sleep when it's not being used.
