"LAMP" Fatal error:call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding ()

I install the LAMP environment, php-xxx-.tar.gz the extracted directory/home/default7/lamp/php-5.5.13
directory where PHP is installed/USR/LOCAL/PHP5
Then after I install, open phpMyAdmin, error prompt:

Fatal error:call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding () in/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/phpmyadmin/libraries/ Php-gettext/gettext.inc on line 177

Command prompt to view the modules that PHP has installed: mbstring is there.。

The php.ini about Extension_dir are commented out, but the view phpinfo has MySQL PDO, which is all displayed.

I now have a point of question for Linux./configure:
If I was in the unzip directory for the first time./configure--prefix= ... && make && make test && make install ... has been installed.
1) Then I need to add extensions that are still going to this unzip directory./configure--prefix=. && make && do install recompile?
2) If this is the case, then I am not the first to unzip the folder./configure, whether the parameter must be fully aligned (is not the directory has memory function)

Later installation can be, re./configure installation.
However, before making clean, you will feel the decompression. The/configure directory remembers the installation process.
Re-installed with the--enable-mbstring after it is ready. It has been re-installed a couple of times before, but there is no clean, which may be the reason.

Make clean
./configure--PREFIX=/USR/LOCAL/PHP5
Make
Make Test
Make install

Phpinfo ();

See if there are any mbstring, if not, please check php.ini


