because we can not leave the Windows operation, and because unfamiliar and not accustomed to the operation of Ubuntu, the solid use of Win7 and Ubuntu dual-system approach is reasonable. Installing Ubuntu,ubuntu on Win7 will automatically create a boot menu that lets us choose to start Win7 or Ubuntu at boot time.

1, after installing the EASYBCD on the Win7 configuration, and copy the boot file to the C drive. This step is visible in the http://teliute.org/linux/Ubsetup/jichu3/jichu3.html steps to download the installation EASYBCD, as well as step two copy the boot file;

2, followed by the installation of Ubuntu system. Restart the computer, select the "Neogrub boot loader" When the boot menu appears, and then install the Ubuntu system as described in step three of the links above;

I installed the Ubuntu version is Ubuntu-10.04.4-desktop-i386.iso; When you install the Ubuntu system in step three, when you encounter the option, select "Manually Make Partition";

When you go to the next step, you will get an error if you choose any of the following: No root file system, go back to the partition menu to fix this (because Linux is not the same as Win7, all in the same way as the folder, and at least two partitions:/(root partition) and/swap (swap partition));

FIX: How do I partition when I install Ubuntu?
I choose: Delete an existing Windows partition for Ubuntu.

In fact, in general to allocate at least 10G hard disk space for Ubuntu, we can set up the Windows partition space-time redundancy out of 10G, or by deleting an existing Windows partition to be implemented.

1. Delete the partition in Win7:
1) Remove the data from the partition and format it.
2) Open the disk tube (computer-management-Disk Management), right-click the partition to delete, select "Delete Volume".

Recommendation:1) It is best to delete the last partition so that Ubuntu is installed to the end of the hard drive to maintain the continuity of the previous Windows partition.
2) I choose to delete the F partition, size 65G multipoint, larger, ready to give Ubuntu 10G space allocated. Fixed in the deleted partition after 65.3G point a few of the free space rebuilt a 55G, and then left a 10G or so unpartitioned blank space to Ubuntu.

2. in the "Prepare hard disk space" This step, I choose "Use the largest continuous free space", the system will automatically free hard disk space around 10G divided into a "/" and a "swap" partition, so the benefits of partitioning is to maximize the use of hard disk space.

3, the next step into such as, enter the name password, etc.;

4, and then ready to start the installation, the following partition refers to the reservation of about 10G of unpartitioned space, click "Advanced" to view the boot program, I set as the default, do not change the bottom of the bootstrapper location, then by Ubuntu to boot Windows;

6. then reboot will appear the following boot menu, we can choose Ubuntu or Win7;

7, in the Ubuntu terminal input df-lh, can see the Linux use space, as can be seen exactly is reserved for about 10G of unpartitioned space

Note:1) 10G is not enough, you can consider allocating more space to Linux during installation, or it can be expanded after installation;
2) If you customize the partition yourself, you can choose "Manual Partition", and then use the unpartitioned space to select the new operation;
