Environment:

Operating System: CentOS 6.4 64bit

Middleware: WAS 7

Database: Oracle 11g rac 11.2.0.3

Problem:

The generated database was cannot connect to the database, and an archive error is reported.

Solution:

Oracle cannot be archived.

Operation records:

SQL> select instance_name from v $ instance;

SQL> select * from v $ log;

SQL> alter system switch logfile;

-- Manually switch the log group, hold it for a long time, and stop it manually

^ Calter system switch logfile

SQL> alter database clear unarchived logfile group 1;

-- If log group 1 is not the current log group, try to clear it

SQL> select * from v $ log;

-- Restore the archive to normal

SQL> alter system switch logfile;

Summary:

This fault is caused by damage to the log group. When the current log group is full and you need to archive it, an error occurs. Because the damaged log group is not the current log group, the processing is relatively simple. However, if the current log group is damaged due to power failure or hardware failure, the database may not be completely restored due to backup, resulting in data loss. We recommend that you set up multiple log groups.

After the fault, a brief summary of the subsequent maintenance suggestions was provided to the resident engineers.

Suggestion:

1. Check for recent power outages and determine the cause of log group damage;

2. confirm that the hardware device has no warning and whether it is a hardware fault;

3. If factors such as power failure and hardware failure are excluded, they may be caused by oracle logic errors and need to be tracked;

4. We recommend that you perform full backup as soon as possible after this fault;

5. We recommend that you diversify the log groups;

6. In terms of performance, we recommend that you add a single-node log group from two groups to three or more groups later;
