Today, I saw the following article on solidot:

The former holds that mankind is in a stage of free expression of speech that has never existed before in history. The latter quoted the ancient Roman philosopher Seneca as saying that there is no such thing everywhere. We can get endless information from the Internet, but this information overload also leads to people's distraction and cannot think deeply.

In the past two weeks, I 've been looking at a new project, and I 've been talking about similar issues.
A similar question was raised in chapter 5 "Network Society and brain" of this book:

For this question, I first raised a question that sounds boring: "Is the network likely to disappear completely in the future ?", This is definitely not possible. Therefore, it is better to think about how to better control the new world than to consider the dangers brought by the Internet. Now, the online world is in the "Web" status, and it is in a very chaotic state. As to the effect it has on society, it depends on how we handle the relationship with the network. So how should we deal with this relationship? Before that, we should first emphasize that networks should be used to learn knowledge. Information is not equal to knowledge. Too much information may even lead us to be distracted and unable to think. As a result, we cannot learn knowledge effectively. How to use the network to learn knowledge, I propose a solution: first, I will use my own thoughts to determine which information and intelligence are valuable, second, integrate valuable information and intelligence collected. Even if you collect more information, if you leave it alone, the information will become junk and you will not get anything. Therefore, we can find a way to sort information:

After obtaining some information, I first need to think about and raise questions, and then compare it with my own information, and then take its essence to get its dregs, then compare it with your own information, and then extract its essence to its dregs. If you can effectively carry out this process, you can build an information framework in your mind. Once again, the most important thing is that information can be effectively organized.

After such a sorting process, new information received from the network can be integrated with the original information in the brain. Finally, we can explore the "knowledge" of new information ". In this way, you will never forget the knowledge you get, because you have changed its essence into your own things.
I think back to my recent learning experience. In the past six months, I have collected and sorted out a lot of useful "Knowledge" in XML and jquery technologies ", some work has been transformed into more efficient "productivity", but my knowledge framework is not yet to be supplemented, especially for Windows program development and social science knowledge, without a framework, it is difficult to systematically learn a knowledge, and it is difficult to learn a new "Knowledge" (note that it is not new information ).
Perhaps, in the network society, we need more thinking to make ourselves smarter. My Opinion on the network threat theory in The Wall Street Journal is the same as that in the previous research. "It is better to think more about it to make better use of it than to alert the internet, because in today's era, fear and escape from the Internet are not in the trend of the times."
