Q: My IE is built on Windows XP SP2. I heard that this version of IE supports resumable data transfer, but when I download a large file, click Cancel next to the second download, and then close the computer. The second download starts from scratch. Why?
A: IE6.0 has started to support resumable data transfer. However, to use the resumable data transfer function of IE, you must meet the following requirements:
1. When IE is disabled or the system is disabled, the Temporary Internet folder cannot be cleared because IE saves the downloaded files to the Temporary Folder first. For IE itself, you must ensure that temporary folders are not automatically cleared when IE is disabled: click "Tools> Internet Options" in the main window and select the "advanced" tab in the window that opens, then, deselect the "Clear the Temporary Internet folder when closing the browser" option to save the settings.
2. When downloading a file, do not click the cancel button in the Download Dialog Box to disconnect the file currently being downloaded. You should click Close in the upper-right corner of the dialog box. Because, after you click the "cancel" button, all download stops and files downloaded to the Temporary Folder are automatically cleared.
